X-Japan News (Major!!)

Visual-kei legend X-Japan will make their comeback this year! This year they will release Without you, which Toshi recorded in March in Yoshiki’s studio. There are also plans for a first live.
Both Pata and Heath will join, but there is no official message about this yet. For the position of HIDE, they’ll probably look for different guest musicians.

Nearly ten years since X JAPAN’s New Year’s “farewell” concert and nine years after the death of the band’s influential lead guitarist Hideto “Hide” Matsumoto, X JAPAN has officially reformed and is planning a new tour and single, tentatively due before the end of 2007.

According to an article in the Japanese newspaper Sponichi, X JAPAN founder Yoshiki summoned former vocalist Toshi to Los Angeles in November 2006 to work on a song that was written as a tribute to late guitarist Hide, entitled “Without You” (originally released instrumentally on Yoshiki’s first album). After an emotional recording session, the two felt that “the puzzle pieces just fit,” and decided to officially reunite the band.

Yoshiki is said to be in talks with guitarist Pata and bassist Heath regarding the reunion, with hopes to feature the band lineup circa the group’s final performance. While nothing has been set in stone, the tentative touring lineup is expected to include Yoshiki, Toshi, Pata, Heath, and roughly 10 guest guitarists who will perform Hide’s parts during various songs in the set.

Current information indicates that X JAPAN’s tour will begin near Yoshiki’s home of Los Angeles, with the Toshi-sung single release of “Without You” due sometime this year.

Regarding the reunion, Yoshiki stated, “After Hide’s death most fans were split between two extreme opinions, either ‘you reunite and I’ll kill you’ or ‘if you don’t reunite I’ll die.’ I had trouble making the decision and for a while I wasn’t able to move forward. This reunion is actually a first for me as well.”

  1. I never thought I’d see this…I’ll be interested to see who guests to play Hide’s parts…

  2. Probably one of the guitarists from Dir en Grey.

  3. Most likely…for at least a few performances…
But still…I remember the first time I heard Silent Jealousy and I was like…Damn these guys are effin talented. (but that might be mainly because of my liking of Power Metal *cough*)

Either way, Yoshiki’s riffs are pretty freakin awesome…he’s a damn good musician. Some really nice arrangements…and I just wonder if anyone can really reproduce the same energy in the guitar solos that hide had…

Should be good stuff no matter what though…

  4. It depends really. Next year it’ll be hide’s 10 year death anniversary. If anything the concert should be really good.

  5. i dunno, i don’t think they’d get someone from Dir En Grey since Dir En Grey appeared at a later time. they’d probably get Sugizo or someone from their era. lolz.

  6. They still could pull it off.

  7. Yoshiki is little lost at all >.> poor him.

  8. How much energy do you put into operating your blog?

  9. It is best to take part in a contest for among the best blogs on the web. I will advocate this website!
